Unfortunately we missed the last show in Stockholm so it was good news to read that Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth would play just around the corner at Grünspan. Too bad we were only allowed to shoot during the first three tracks, so we couldn’t get Pete Rock behind the mic playing classics like TROY and Straighten It Out. Next time! ![]()

I’m a bit surprised about how much is going on in Hamburg at the moment. On friday 10.12.2010 there will be a closing party for the “Pop-Up Magazine Store“, a project of the “Art-Lawyer“. It’s defintely something for magazine lovers! They are selling independent magazines from all over the world. Nice to have the opportunity to see some more magazines than the normal range at the international magazine stores. If you haven’t been there yet, friday will be your last chance.

Isn’t that cute? I totaly love this picture of Jan Delay. On saturday we went with our weekend guests “Rachel” and Eric to the exhibition “Hamburger Gesichter” at the “Vicious Gallery“. “Thomas Koch” illustrated Hamburg faces for a benifit project. If you need to see more illustration you need to go to the next event. You can bet on the illustrations of Fatih Akin, Jan Delay, Udo Lindenberg, Das Bo, Cosma Shiva Hagen on the december 10th 2010 at the Terrace Hill. All the proceeds from the auction are going the e MUMS LOVE e.V. in Ghana und Strassenkids e.V. And extra plus: Jochen Distelmeyer (Blumfeld) will play unplugged!!!

If your press-text says that you are influenced by “My bloody Valentine” you definitely got my attention for a while and I will starting googling. “Salem” from Chicago is one of those bands that played in Hamburg at Mondial yesterday. It’s really true, just take a minute and listen a bit to “My bloody Valentine“. If you don’t know Salem yet, give it a try. I heard to many different music genre titles this weekend that I have never heard before. “Chill wave”, drag and a bunch more that I had never heard before. For me, it emo-core at it’s best! But hey, I’m not a music specialist.

I have no idea about what is going on in Hamburg. Events on every corner. Yesterday we first joined the Family and Friends Sale with drinks, music and fingerfood at “American Apparel“. And of course we where too late for the “Myspace Secret Show” of the “Ting Tings“. Five minutes before the show started we arrived…. The location was totally packed and we were just happy to get in. Why choose the easy way if you can have a exiting way to get in.
The show was quite nice and they played a lot of the new songs. I like that the new sound in general is full of 80′s sounds and a bit more grown up.

If you are from Germany you might know this band.
I think I don’t need to introduce them. I’m really not a fan but still impressed about the path they walked. My first experience with them was round about 20 years ago on a small hiphop jam in Osnabrück. It was in the front of 50 people that hated them, because they weren’t “real hiphop”. (whatever that should be….) A few months later everything changed. The boys with the Triple 5 Soul jelly bag cap and the Cross Color Jackets became really famous. I’m pretty sure that nearly everyone can tell a story about the first experience with them. Whenever I hear the song about the seaside, I always have to think about my sister since we grew up close to the sea. She was sitting there and listing to a song of them, really loud. She listened to it over and over again which was totally annoying… Yesterday I liked it though because of my and the collective memory of the crowd.

“Theophilus London” had a concert in Hamburg yesterday. We felt like grandmother and granddaddy because at the beginning we had a really funny place to sit. A table with two chairs in the middle of the room. It was in a nice location we hadn’t been to before, the legendary music club Indra. The concert itself was better then we expected. We both like the sound and we felt like being at Brooklyn Bowl for one hour. Thank you for a nice evening.
PS: I hate wordpress and flickr for reducing the picture qulity automatically! That totaly sucks.

We both were a bit surprised when we entered the vernissage of Stefan Strumbel & Rüdiger Glatz at the Vicious Gallery yesterday. Both are kown for urban- and graffiti-art but as you can see, no urban art.
Perhaps St.Pauli red light district urban art …
A bit sad because I liked the photos of ruedione – Rüdiger Glatz.
It was nice to see that many people from others city came to see the vernissage. Meeting a few old friends unexpectedly was nice.

The danish brand “Wood Wood” which is know for clean and smart design, openend up it’s pop up store in collaboration with YBDPT in Hamburg yesterday. The double denim line is simple, clean and available in different washings. The ladies denim looks great and is definitely worth to try on. It comes in a stretchy high waist slim fit. The men’s version is a classic denim with focus on the silhouettes and basic details of a denim. All the people that you usually never see on the road in Hamburg showed up. Nice event & free drinks. Hamburg we need more of those happenings!

Yesterday on a Pressevent in Hamburg, “H&M” presented every single item of the designers collection of “Lanvin” will be released on november, 23rd. When I saw it coming, I fell totally in love with the coat! But I was also a bit surprised about the dresses. They are gorgeous, with a lot of details like the inside out sewing. I didn’t liked the inside out details for the Sonja Rykiel collection though, but these are at the right positions and in a good quality and never tooo much. Overall, one attribute that you remark whole collection: good quality and nice fabrics. Even the smallest details are well produced. I would say, there was one item everybody loved in the room: the sunis
I prefer the male version, it’s harder and more edgy.
We had a really nice evening with some other germany bloggers like: Schnati & Jessie of Les Mads, Katha of I love Ponys Mag, Lisa of Lalila and Annika & Camilla of “Allet ohne Schminke“. Overall it was a great evening with some nice designer garments and a lot of great people.

Not really around the corner, but not that far from us either one of the most important galleries in Hamburg is has their room. “Heliumcowboys” is showing stuff from “Jo Fischer” at the moment, a photographer who is influenced by Rock’n'Roll and urban life in general. He has a really good eye for transferring emotions and capturing them in his really nice photographies.

More and more small galleries and exibitions are popping up in Hamburg. Just around our corner more than 6 galleries opened the last 2 years. Here are some nice examples how nice Hamburg is growing.
The first pictures were taken at the “Yeahboy” exibition of the french photographer “Yves Drillet” and the secound pitures are at the “Raum linksrechts“. An artist from Cologne called “leBeat-André Kniepkamp” is showing his stuff.

Red Carpet events are not the regular events that we are going to. Also, we are not really in car pimping and car racing. But anyway we went to the “Gumball 3000“. This was the reason: EVE! She is one of my alltime favorite rappers. Stuff like: Love Is Blind (featuring Faith Evans) and Who’s that Girls songs that I will love forever! Perhaps you also know her as an actor. “Barber Shop” and “Good Hair” are movies that you need to see, if you like her. Specially “Good Hair” from Chris Rock, a documentation about black womans hair. Really funny. But back again to the event. It was one of those events where you start talking to strangers in the restrooms and become good friends.
Eve was playing a couple of songs. It was really nice and we had a really good time with some old friends. A great location at the habour and some funny moments, a lot of VIP that I don’t know, since we lived abroad. Rock’n'Roll, Hamburg! Sorry for the bad pictures, I just smuggled a small camera with me.

11 artists. 7 floors. 147 steps. 11 arts. In 2009 the “Stilwerk” asked 11 Street Artists of the Vicious Gallery to paint their staircase. The list of artists couldn’t be nicer: Sozyone, KR from New York, Flying Förtress, Sebastian Freimauer, Mr. Nonski, Form 76, Golden Green, 1010, Nils Kasiske, Milk and Felix Schlüter. Now they are releasing a book about this project. Every artist resonsible for one chapter of the book. Of course, the “Vicious Gallery” is showing some peaces of those artists on the releasedate, october 7th.

A little art and illustration for Hamburg. Yesterday the “Pictoplasma Conference” made a stop in Hamburg with a lot of speakers and some movies to bring us closer to character-design. With lectures and presentations from different artists like “Siggi Eggertsson” known for the Gnarls Barkley Cover, “Rilla Alexander of Rinzen” who just finished her first book and superhero “Akinori Oishi” from Japan, who was funny as hell. We got a nice overview of the scence at the moment. They are going on tour and you should really visit if it’s in your area. They will be in Munic, Dundee, NYC and Düsseldorf.

“Mode 2” is one of THE graffiti-artists and he is having an exibition in Hamburg. I have been a huge fan for many years. So don’t miss the vernissage on saturday at the “Vicious Gallery“. More details here.

Last thursday a friend of us from Berlin had a show at Knust here in Hamburg. For those of you who don’t know Prinz Pi formerly known as Prinz Porno, better check out his website. A new album is coming up shortly and absolutely not your average hip-hop stuff. And while you’re at it, check out the projects section on the site. There you’ll also find out about his graphic and humanitarian stuff. Well worth a visit. Greetz to Berlin!
